Like all parents those whose children joined their family by adoption receive advice from many quarters: grandparents, neighbors, the Internet, books, teachers, preachers and a few know-it-alls we encounter in the park or supermarket. Like all parents we make choices about whose knowledge or wisdom we will follow.
But there are voices we cannot ignore: those who unlike most of us have the real-life experience of being adopted. Of course each voice of an adopted adult is different, just as each adoption is different. But hearing the stories, listening to the feelings of those who have walked the walk offers parents the opportunity to understand more fully their own child's journey. Christopher Papile who was adopted shares his experience through cartoons. FAIR thanks him for allowing us a window into the adoptive life.
