These two poems were written by a 20 year old who came home at age 6.

Transition

from boat
to orphanage
to hospital
to orphanage
to airplane
to house
to hear
to hospital
to pain
to house
to house
to house
to house
to home
and now
to adult
to work
hard
harder
hardest
remembering
lonely
scared
‘fraid’
pain
tired
sad
anger
hope
dashed
dashed
till I
feel like
not caring
hard
hard
hard

On the Road

Not every road
is smooth
Not every sky
is blue
Not every day
is sunny
Not every life
is easy
I’ve walked
on rocky path
I’ve stumbled
on others’ faults
I’ve watched
myself Bloom
My family
supports my struggle
My spirit
doesn’t give up
My diploma says
"I am somebody!"
