FAIR
FAIR receives calls through a yellow pages listing as well as through referrals from agencies, counselors, and friends. Currently a recorded message greets callers, who are invited to leave a message. FAIR mails appropriate information packets and also speaks individually with many callers. These callers include individuals who are just beginning the adoption process, adoptive parents who have a specific question, and families who are experiencing a crisis.
A network of Warm Line Volunteers provides support to callers. Volunteers are not expected to be authorities on every aspect of adoption. They are simply asked to be available to share their own experiences and to provide a respectful, sympathetic ear. FAIR is often able to provide further referral resources or information as needed.
